This 50-CD limited-edition box honors one of the great partnerships in the history of recording, celebrating 100 years of great recordings by the Berlin Philharmonic on Deutsche Grammophon – 100 years of recorded music history, from the very first recording ever made of the Berlin Philharmonic to some of the most recent. The result is an authoritative collection of symphonic repertoire, concertos, choral works, opera highlights, and 20th-century masterpieces.

These exceptional and authoritative recordings range from conductor Arthur Nikisch in 1913 to Gustavo Dudamel in 2013 and include many more of the world’s greatest artists along the way. Hear Richard Strauss conducting his “Dance of the Seven Veils” from Salome and Paul Hindemith leading his Symphony Mathis der Maler, plus Furtwängler, Knappertsbusch, Walter, Horenstein, Fricsay, Markevitch, Böhm, Szell, Kubelik, Jochum, Abbado, Rostropovich, Bernstein, Giulini, Boulez, Rattle, and of course, Karajan.

Some of the many soloists to appear include Fournier, Argerich, Rostropovich, Anda, Kempff, Mutter, Pollini, Fischer-Dieskau, and Fleming.
